    Together We Can

    Our Story

    Ours is a love story that became an impact story. Badili Vizazi Foundation was founded by Benjamin Mwangi and Jackline Mukami while under scholarship by Equity Group Foundation, of which we are both beneficiaries. Having come from underprivileged backgrounds, we were impacted firsthand by the power of philanthropy and mentorship, which helped us become successful business leaders.

    In our journey of entrepreneurship, we have excelled in the fashion and beauty service industries, both driven by technology. Our business mantra is transforming lives through Kingdom enterprises. This gives us a wholistic and transformative approach to the people we work and partner with.

    Since 2017, we have impacted hundreds of vulnerable young people by empowering them with beauty service skills for free and later giving them rewarding jobs. However, many deserving youths are turned away due to limited financial capability. This breaks our hearts because we know that if only all those young people were trained and equipped with the skills and offered employment to kickstart their careers, it would transform their lives and those of their families towards socioeconomic stability.

    That way, A DREAM WAS BORN whose goal is to have the extreme​ capacity to create opportunities for underprivileged youths in Kenya by empowering them with employable skills and offering them a platform to kickstart their careers. That’s our story.

    A career business leader, mentor, and alumnus of the Equity Leaders Program. My whole adult life has been built on mentorship, on one hand as a proud mentee of Dr. James Mwangi and on the other hand an accomplished mentor of many young people. An important question I ask myself in every business we do is “Who’s life am I hoping to change with this business?” The unemployment problem in Kenya continues to be perpetuated by a mismatch between what training institutions offer and what the market demands. I have witnessed firsthand the power of empowering young people with on-demand skills as well as a platform that kickstarts their careers. Transforming young people’s lives and especially those from underprivileged backgrounds melts my heart and every business I do has a transformative agenda.

    A reputable business leader, mentor, and alumna of the Equity Wings to Fly Program. In my experience being mentored and now being a mentor to many youths from destitute backgrounds, I highly emphasize on skill acquisition since it promotes self employment and salaried employment at the same time.

    We are currently working on the BADILI VIZAZI PROJECT which is aimed at training 1000 underprivileged youths per year in nail artistry and hairdressing, and after graduating from the project we connect them to industry professionals with whom we have partnered to absorb them into full time employment.

    My name is Mary Gitau and I am a marketing executive. Immediately I was done with my form 4, I wasn't able to continue with education. I had to look for a job so that I would be able to support my family financially because we were not okay at home. I had to go and hustle and in the process of hustling is when I heard about this project. I joined it about five years ago. I came here to train and I was trained in sales and marketing. The trainers were very good and very patient with me because I wasn't thinking I would be able to do this. After the training I got a job immediately where I was able to help my family and my siblings financially. I was able to pay for my sibling's university because she graduated last year. After my sister graduated I also went back to school where I thought I would never go back to school because I had given up on life because of the situation. I was able to save some money, I was able to pay for my school fees, and now I am able to study and work at the same time. I believe if I did it, you can do it.

    My name is Francis Ngugi and I am a software engineer. Before getting a stable job I faced significant challenges. I had to hustle on multiple areas like construction sites and quarry sites which left me exhausted and with a little time to focus on my career growth, to make ends meet. The uncertainty of not knowing what tomorrow will bring and not having that stable job would really stress me and exhaust me. The training was transformative and it helped me to gain the skills that I need in my day-to-day work in the tech field. The trainers were supportive and helped me where I needed help and even when I felt like quitting they called me and encouraged me. I can only thank them now because I did not give up and thw far I am is because they held my back during the whole training period that took about 1 year. I got employed immediately after finishing my training and I have been in this work for now this is the third year. Life has changed massively since I got a stable income I no longer worry about making ends meet I'll save some money or I can save some money to fathers my future goals such as furthering my education and helping my siblings complete their studies I also help my parents where I can which gives me an overall quality of life that I didn't have before. I strongly believe in the vision of this project that when you impact and touch one youth you've impacted their whole generation and I am a living proof.

    Hello there. I'm Alice Mbiti, a manager in a nail spa in Nairobi. Immediately after form four, I had doubts of am I really going to go to campus? But luckily enough I heard about the project and I decided to try my luck. Despite all the challenges here and there, I came out successfully. After the interview, I went for training where I was trained for three months. The training was good and the teachers were also good. Later we did an exam to determine if you're going to go to a spa or remain in the training. But luckily enough, I was a first learner, so I successfully went to a spa where I worked. And I've worked now for two years. I worked a year first as a new technician, then later I was promoted as a manager in the same company. During the training, I remember I was hosted by my auntie, but now I am able to rent my own house. I pay my rent, I cater for my bills, I can cater for my family and my sister also- I cater for their school fees as well as my brother. Likewise, my mum has a small salon back in the village so I am transferring the skill to my mum who is teaching other girls back in the village so that they can also change their lives. If you're out there, you finished form four and you are thinking like, are you really going to go to campus or to college and you feel like your home is not that financially well, I'm here to give hope to someone outside there that is desperate because I'm a living testimony.
